Mission
- The mission of James B. Washington Education and Sports is to serve underprivileged youth through education, sports, and activities to improve and enhance our community . We incentivize youth with a unique model that rewards responsibility and success in the classroom. Children are given opportunity to play on basketball teams, participate in our art program, take field trips, and learn life skills through achievement and accomplishment.

Father & Son Forum (Monthly) – Motivational and Community Speakers create positive dialog regarding community issues, such as education, dropout rates, incarceration, child support, unemployment and underemployment. Forums are held to develop strategies and solutions for strengthening families.
TUTORIAL PROGRAM

The Tutorial Program is designed to help students academically with the core subjects: math, english, science and social studies. We monitor elementary, middle and high school students for adequate progress throughout the school year. We also assist high school students with SAT/ACT college entrance exams. Our goal is to prepare all participants for life after high school whether it be college, trade school, military or employment.
ART PROGRAM

ART PROGRAM
The Art Program is offered after school and during the summer enrichment program. This program is designed to introduce the children to learning several different mediums and art techniques. The children have participated in acrylic painting on canvas, mixed media, and ceramics.
SUMMER YOUTH ENRICHMENT LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM !!
BREAKFAST, LUNCH & SNACKS PROVIDED!
- Summer Slide Prevention - This is extension of the yearly Academic Tutoring Program for the core subjects: Math, English, Science & Social Studies to ensure that students have not experienced the loss of their academic skills during the summer months which we refer to as the "summer slide"
- Field Trips - College Visits and Tours, Historical Sites, Museums, Libraries and College and Athletic Events.
- Swimming Lessons - Swimming lessons hosted by Bear Levin Student Family YMCA
- Art projects- Various art activities with local artist, Lisa Bosarge
